What is Model UN?
Model United Nations is a prestigious extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which is usually organized by a high school or college MUN club.
Model UN is valuable to anyone looking to build their public speaking, interpersonal, and research skills. In Model UN, one of the most important qualities is leadership. Forming alliances and writing resolutions in a group will require personality in addition to intellect. |
At Ledford, our weekly club meetings are a time to prepare for conferences. We focus on building rhetorical and public speaking skills through debates. We also practice the procedures for Model UN, such as Parliamentary Procedure and resolution writing.
You will be expected to attend a minimum of one conference throughout the year and participate in weekly meetings. We meet on club days during 2nd period (1st Wed of the month), and after school each week on Wednesdays in room 719. For more information about Model UN, visit bestdelegate.com/. See Mrs. Harris if you're interested in joining! |
